Horbury Town Juniors FC
Nov, 2025 ... We are so pleased to announce that our Chairman…. Mr Paul Howard has this evening won the West Riding FA’s prestigious Bobby Moore award at the county’s award ceremonies!
We are delighted as a club and a community that Paul’s hard work for the football club has been recognised and this a very proud moment for us all.
The category is such a privilege to win as it not only carries the name of the greatest football captain this country has have ever had but the nominations for this category were also very strong and well deserving.
Paul was accompanied by his family and for once he was a little lost for words when his name came on the big screen however he did manage a few thanks……
“I’m very overwhelmed by this award, it’s such a privilege to have been nominated in the first instance but to actually be recognised and win it is something else. Thank you to all those who took the time to nominate me and a huge thanks to my wife Rachel for supporting me on this epic journey!
“I appreciate it’s my name on this award but there are lots of people out there who have played a massive part in our clubs success over the years and this achievement is down to you all”
“We now have a thriving club with over 300 junior players, 600 parents, 60 senior players, 25 over 35’s players and an old boys section that has 50 associated players making us the biggest community asset we have, this makes me very proud.”
Congratulations Paul a well deserved winner!
We’re bursting with pride!
As we look ahead to the Grassroots Football Awards next Friday, 17th October, we’re thrilled to share that our very own Chairman, Paul Howard, has been nominated for the West Riding FA Bobby Moore Award!
This award celebrates a volunteer who truly embodies the heart and spirit of grassroots football — someone who makes a lasting, positive impact on their community. And honestly… that’s Paul to a tee.
To even make the shortlist among so many grassroots heroes is an incredible achievement — and so well deserved!
From humble beginnings, Paul has poured his heart, time, and energy into building Horbury Town Juniors into the thriving club it is today. What started small has grown into a community of over 300 local juniors — making friends, having fun, and playing the game they love every week. We’re not sure even Paul knew what he was signing up for all those years ago — but we’re so glad he did.
Whatever the result, we couldn’t be prouder or more grateful for everything you’ve done, Paul. Thank you for your incredible dedication, leadership, and passion for grassroots football.
